Some Food for Thought:

I told my family I never want to depend on a machine and fluids to keep me live...that's when they took away my computer and coffee maker!

Some Fresh Bread from the Word of God:

HAVING THE COMPASSION OF CHRIST
[Note: Scriptures quotes are from the NKJV unless otherwise noted.]

When Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles, was writing to the saints of the Church in Corinth, he reminded them: “For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.  Therefore I urge you, imitate me.  For this reason I have send Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church” (1 Corinthians 4:15-17).

David Bivin, in the “Jerusalem perspective,” onine notes:  “It was necessary for a teacher in first-century Jewish society to exhibit exemplary behavior and personal traits. A teacher trained his disciples by personal example much more than by his lectures. (Actions speak louder than words!) He stamped his disciples with his own character. For his or her part, a disciple’s job was to imitate his or her teacher’s behavior. “  Note how Paul, as cited above , confirms this.  He tells his “children” in Corinth to “imitate” him, and he notes that he was consistent in both his behavior and what he taught in every church.  We would say that Paul claimed to have “talked the talk,” and to have “walked the walk!”

However, we, Praise God, have been given an even better role model – the King of Kings, our Lord and Savior, Jesus, the Messiah!  We have been wonderfully blessed with a record of His words and deeds in the four Gospels of the New Testament, in addition to all of the wisdom of Paul, Peter, James, Peter, Jude, John, and the author of Hebrews, and if we choose to study Him and to choose to consistently pattern our speech and our walk after His, then we can, indeed, more and more, experience a truly Victorious Christian Life!
In beginning to study the life and the character attributes, the teachings and the ministry of Jesus of Nazareth as revealed in the Gospel accounts, we will begin with the expression of His great compassion for others, and my prayer (and I do truly hope and pray that you will join me in this adventure and make it our prayer!) will be:  “Help us, dear Father, in the Name of our Lord Jesus, to help us to live Having the Compassion of Christ!”

Our next Post:   What is “Compassion?”
